Inclusion Cornwall

Inclusion Cornwall1 : Inclusion Cornwall1
Inclusion Cornwall will challenge barriers and poor practices, increase understanding, participation and improve the quality of life within Cornwall.

Social exclusion issues are often multiple in nature, inevitably linked and have spiraling consequences for vulnerable people in Cornwall.  Economic, social and environmental issues such as worklessness, barriers to education, barriers to employment, vulnerable Migrant Workers, poverty and poor health are not the responsibility of only one organisation and must be addressed through a coordinated approach.

Inclusion Cornwall was established in 2004 as a thematic partnership of the Cornwall Strategic Partnership and became a dedicated voice for inclusion in Cornwall.  There are four funded posts; two core posts, Social Inclusion Co-ordinator and Policy Officer (Inclusion) are funded through a range of partner contributions and funding bids.  The third, and most recent post, is the Child Poverty Co-ordinator for Cornwall funded from Real Choices - Tackling Child Poverty in Cornwall.  The fourth post is that of the Senior Cornwall Works Facilitator and is funded from Real Choices.  Cornwall County Council are the employing organisation and Jobcentre Plus the host organisation.

Inclusion Cornwall has been established to provide a dedicated voice for inclusion in Cornwall and the team is committed to working both on a strategic level and within the community to challenge and reduce the impact of social exclusion.  Inclusion Cornwall is also the delivery partnership for three Cornwall Local Area Agreement outcomes Worklessness, Poverty and Migrant Workers.  The team will do whatever it takes to engage:

                                                                                    Vegetables : Vegetables

The aims of Inclusion Cornwall are;

• To provide a strategic voice for Cornwall addressing social, economic and environmental inclusion.
• To actively encourage and facilitate problem solving around inclusion issues.
• To raise and challenge inclusion issues across public, private, voluntary and community sectors throughout Cornwall.
• To raise understanding of and call for action on breaking the cycle of deprivation within Cornwall.
• To lobby inclusion issues across and on behalf of partners and partnerships.
• To work across sectors to raise understanding of linked issues and act as a catalyst for multi-agency approaches to delivery

• To break down cultural and institutional barriers that prevent equality of opportunity for all

• To develop a communication strategy to ensure all organisations and partnerships benefit from inclusion updates
