Cornwall Works for Social Enterprise

A programme designed to support jobless people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly into work through a range of inspirational work-related experiences, high-quality advice and training, plus help with travel and other costs. Cornwall Works for Social Enterprise is managed by Cornwall Development Company on behalf of Cornwall Council, and its social enterprise delivery partners are Jobcentre Plus, Citizens Advice Bureau, DMT Business Services Ltd, Eden Project, Fifteen Cornwall, Pentreath, Real Ideas Organisation, ReZolve Skills and Cornwall School for Social Entrepreneurs.

Funded with £4.7m investment from the Convergence European Social Fund through the Department for Work and Pensions, the programme runs from July 2008 until December 2011 and is on target to assist over 1800 people, with more than 625 people securing paid employment.  Programme participants are also supported through a dedicated enabling fund to meet additional costs, such as clothing and the tools and equipment needed when finding employment.  Help and guidance is also provided for participants wishing to start up their own businesses and social enterprises.
